Acta Informatica Pragensia 2014, 3(3), 222-238 | DOI: 10.18267/j.aip.434127

In this paper we describe a case where the top management of a small holding company is involved in a love-hate relationship with its own IT department. The top management firmly believes that IT staff is involved in leaking out company's secrets. However, having no expertise in IT and even lesser grasp on the complexity of IT architecture resulting from recent mergers and acquisition, the top management finds itself crucially dependent on its IT systems, yet unable to trust them fully. The theories of deterrence and reasoned action are used to explain the otherwise objectionable behaviour of the perpetrator.

Effective Mind Maps in E-learning

Petr Kedaj, Josef Pavlíček, Petr Hanzlík

Acta Informatica Pragensia 2014, 3(3), 239-250 | DOI: 10.18267/j.aip.515735

This article presents the role of mind maps in creating well-structured e-learning materials and courses, which has become very important with increasing influence of new technologies and alternative study modes. The basic principles of mind mapping are described, including structural components of mind maps, and examples of practical use cases. Based on the identified lack of existing methodical frameworks for creating interactive mind maps for e-learning, we present a set of rules and metrics, which can help to identify points of ineffectiveness, and eliminate redundancies. This framework for creating effective mind maps and its implications are...

Komunikace závěrů auditu IT procesu prostřednictvím nástrojů systémového myšlení

Communication Audit Conclusions of IT Processes through Instruments of System Thinking

Martin Dalihod

Acta Informatica Pragensia 2014, 3(3), 251-258 | DOI: 10.18267/j.aip.522557

This article's aim is to analyse the benefits of using the tools of systems thinking when the auditor is communicating the results of an internal audit to management. Auditing is seen as an independent and objective consulting activity designed to add value and improve an organization's processes. In this framework, the system archetype is designed as a general causal loop model; based on this model, a system dynamics model of stocks and flows is then generated which is applicable for the purpose of audits of all processes of best practices of COBIT. By using the systemic approach within COBIT, the author illustrates the possibility to show a different...

Cloud computing a reálné opce jako akcelerátor začínajících IT technologických firem

Cloud Computing and Real Options as an Accelerator of IT Startups

Pavel Náplava

Acta Informatica Pragensia 2014, 3(3), 259-279 | DOI: 10.18267/j.aip.533031

New technologies often bring a new way how to practically realize new ideas. For example usage of cloud computing technology can not only minimize operation costs of existing companies but accelerate creation of new startups too. Although there exist many supporting methods how to use them in practice their properties are not correctly used for business plan and strategy creation. Especially IT startups focus mostly on the technology properties only. They omit business aspects which often leads to startup failures. In this paper we analyse this issue and propose a possible solution that is based on the combination of clouds and real options method....

Nástroje pro automatické rozpoznávání entit a jejich vztahů v nestrukturovaných textech

Tools for Automatic Recognition of Persons and their Relationships in Unstructured Data

Jaroslav Ráček, Jan Ministr

Acta Informatica Pragensia 2014, 3(3), 280-287 | DOI: 10.18267/j.aip.543472

The article deals with the specifics of the three layer architecture of software for automatic detection and identification of persons, objects and relationships in unstructured data. The data layer consists of data acquisition and data management modules. The application layer is composed of separate modules that can be combined to meet the needs of specific investigative tasks. The presentation layer makes the analysis of results for police investigation. The overall solution is demonstrated on develop the system ARIO which is applicable for a range of national and international institutions as well as private entities.

Systémová dynamika a její modely jako součást Competitive Intelligence

System Dynamics Model as a Component of Competitive Intelligence

Stanislava Mildeová

Acta Informatica Pragensia 2014, 3(3), 288-294 | DOI: 10.18267/j.aip.553297

Business competition is a domain that has not yet taken full advantage of the benefits of modeling and simulation. To address this, the aim of the paper is to show a model simulating competitive struggle. The model based on system dynamics serves to examine the effects of product development for enterprise competitiveness. In the context of own model building and conducted experiments, there is an evidence, that the use of modeling and simulations is useful in acquiring new information that is not included in enterprise information systems. Even though the model is a simplification of the actual market, such system model could be a perspective Competitive...
